Cutting an onion chops through the cells, exposing the contents. Amino acid sulfoxides form sulfenic acids. Enzymes are released to mix with sulfenic acids producing propanethiol S-oxide. This Sulphur compound is airbourne and floats toward your eyes. The gas reacts with the H2O or water in your tears to form sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid burns, stimulating your eyes to release more tears to wash the irritant away. All the fat is saturated, but surprisingly low in sugars. Good for cake making, smoothies, breakfasts.
Very sweet taste. This milk substitute is not suitable for individuals following the FODMAP diet particularly if drunk in large quantities. |
