Fresh out of the oven, low fat venison, vegetables and pears to add a complimentary sweetness to the sausages. Simply brown and prick the sausages in a pan, chop up the vegetables, including the pears, put the ingrediants into an oven dish, sprinkle with mixed herbs and brush with olive oil. Cover with a lid or foil and then place into a pre heated oven on a medium heat. 45 minutes oven roated should be fine, but test the veg with a fork to check they are cooked.
Chocolate Crispy Cake - 1940s Style
Ingredients:
½ lb of broken biscuits (so they are nut sized pieces)
2 ozs margarine
2 ozs sugar
2 tbsp Cocoa Cocoa
2 tsp of Vanilla Essence
1 egg (or equivalent reconstituted)
Method:
- Crisp the broken biscuits on a tray in the oven.
- Slowly melt the margarine and sugar together in a saucepan, stir as
you do this.
- Allow to cool slightly, add the egg, cocoa and essence, lastly add the broken biscuits.
- Stir ingredients together with a wooden spoon.
- Turn out onto greaseproof paper, and make into a sausage shape, to biscuit size
circumference. Roll so surface is smooth and wrap in grease proof paper (You can also tie with
string).
- Set aside (at bottom of fridge if available) for 2 – 3 hours.
- Unwrap and dust with icing sugar.
- Slice up.
NOTE:
This is a lovely recipe, with no baking involved.
You can add chopped nuts, dried fruit, mint, grated dark chocolate, orange zest; any of these ingredients will add variety to this simple recipe.
