Here are some examples of the tests we do. We carry out a whole range of blood tests so please do ask if you can't see the test you are interested in listed, and we can email you a price list.
ALLERGY COMPLETE PROFILE (295 ALLERGENS TESTED) £314
Finger prick tests for under 16s / Venepuncture for over 16s and adults. Profiles Included are Dairy, Nuts, Grains, Grasses, Pollens, Moulds, Spores, Fish, Pets, Mites, Latex, Soya and more.
The picture to the right shows a sample of how the report is presented. It comes with explanations and a GPs report.
In allergy testing, the primary type of antibody looked for is Immunoglobulin E (IgE). IgE is a class of antibodies produced by the immune system in response to exposure to an allergen. When someone is allergic to a substance, their immune system mistakenly identifies this harmless substance as a threat and produces IgE antibodies specific to that allergen.

ANAEMIA PROFILE £119
Anaemia is a shortage of red blood cells and/or haemoglobin in your blood. It is a common cause of tiredness as it leads to in less oxygen being carried round your body. It can also lead to lack of energy, feeling faint, becoming easily breathless and occasionally to irregular heartbeats.
This test is designed to discover clues in your blood as to why you may be feeling unusually tired or fatigued. It will give you information on several common causes of anaemia. It includes tests for iron levels including ferritin, a full blood count, vitamin B12 and folate (vitamin B9) levels.
Vitamins are a group of substances that our bodies need for normal cell function, growth and development. Vitamin deficiencies can be the cause of a wide range of common symptoms and conditions.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is a vitamin which is necessary for the formation of red blood cells, tissue and cellular repairs and nerve health. It can be found in animal products such as poultry, milk and eggs. Vitamin B12 tests are used to help diagnose the cause of anaemia.
Folate
Folate (Vitamin B9) is a vitamin which is necessary for the formation of red blood cells, tissue and cellular repairs and is important during pregnancy. It can be found in leafy green vegetables, yeast and citrus fruits. Folate tests are used to help diagnose the cause of anaemia.

B12 VITAMIN £59.
Vitamin B12 is essential for your health and wellbeing and performs several important functions in the body, including keeping the nervous system healthy.
Understanding your levels is important as low levels of Vitamin B12 can have severe effects on blood and overall health. Vitamin B12 is particularly important for those on a plant-based diet.

BLOOD GROUP TEST £99
This in-store test will determine your blood group and is called ABO typing. There are 4 main blood groups (types of blood) – A, B, AB and O. Your blood group is determined by the genes you inherit from your parents and based on which proteins are on the surface of your red blood cells.
Each group can be either RhD positive (+) or RhD negative (-), which means in total there are 8 blood groups. Blood group O is the most common blood group. Almost half of the UK population (48%) has blood group O.

CALCIUM TEST £62
Calcium is an important mineral which is found in the bones as well as circulating in the blood. It has a range of functions and is essential in bone formation and blood clotting. In the blood, calcium can either be free and active or they can be bound to proteins like albumin. Calcium tests are used to diagnose and monitor different conditions correlating to the bone, heart and kidneys.

CHOLESTEROL TEST £62
A Cholesterol test can indicate your risk of developing cardiovascular problems. High cholesterol levels can cause your arteries to become blocked, leading to coronary heart disease, a heart attack or even a stroke. Finding out about high levels of cholesterol can help you to make the positive lifestyle and dietary changes needed to improve your chances of a long and healthy life.

DIABETES DIAGNOSIS £62
Checks your levels of HbA1c. This biomarker is used to confirm whether you have (or are at risk of developing) diabetes. It is a potentially life-saving test and it is quite common for people have diabetes and not know about it. Unmanaged or undiagnosed diabetes is one of the leading causes of mortality. For anyone who already knows they have diabetes, regular HbA1c checks are essential to monitor progress.

FULL THYROID TESTING & IODINE £156.50 IV
Iodine is an essential trace element utilised for the thyroid hormones Thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
The Thyroid’s function is a domino effect, if one part topples there are consequences. Our Thyroid function is regulated by the thyroid stimulating hormone or TSH (thyrotopin).
The Pituitary Gland secretes TSH in order to stimulate production and controlled release of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. In other words, if as our T3 and T4 drops or rises the pituitary glands produces more or less TSH to balance the books and regulate. TSH creates thyroidal uptake of iodine so in the absence of sufficient iodine TSH levels could remain elevated leading to hyperthyroidism including a goiter. To put this another way; If TSH production won’t switch off there will be a constant search for Iodine. If TSH levels remain elevated, it is an indicator of thyroid dysfunction.

MENOPAUSE HORMONE PROFILE (4 Biomarkers) £99 IV / £129 FPT
There are many types of hormones that support different bodily functions and processes including growth, metabolism, appetite and fertility. Hormone imbalances or deficiencies may be to blame for a wide range of symptoms and conditions.
Oestradiol
Oestradiol is a form of oestrogen and the main female hormone produced by non-pregnant women. The hormone has an important role in the development of female physical features and reproductive functions. Oestradiol tests are used for the evaluation of ovarian functions. It can also be used to diagnose the cause of precocious and delayed puberty in girls as well as used to monitor hormone replacement therapy in peri-pausal and menopausal women.
Follicular Stimulating Hormone
Follicular Stimulating Hormone (FSH) a reproductive hormone that is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. FSH stimulates the growth and development of unfertilised eggs during the menstrual cycle in women and initiates the production of sex hormones such as oestradiol and progesterone. FSH is also used to stimulate the production of sperm in men. The FSH hormone is often tested with other sex hormones such as LH, testosterone, oestradiol and progesterone for diagnose infertility and pituitary gland disorders in men and women.
Luteinizing Hormone
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is a reproductive hormone that is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. This hormone is used to regulate the menstrual cycle and ovulation by stimulating the ovaries to produce other reproductive hormones in females whereas in men, LH stimulates and controls testosterone. The LH test is used to determine any reproductive problems.

PARASITE, STOOL AND OVA £59
The test measures the presence of ova (eggs), cysts, and parasites in the stool sample using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. It is used to diagnose various gastrointestinal infections caused by parasites such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and Entamoeba.
The PCR test is able to look for the genetic footprint of parasites. Other tests may miss parasites as they themselves have a life cycle, so eggs may be missed.

PROSTATE PROFILE £89
Please note that a PSA test cannot be relied on to either diagnose prostate cancer - or exclude the presence of prostate cancer. If it is high then you will need further investigations with a Urologist. If you have symptoms and it is low you will still need to see a doctor to consider further investigations.
The prostate produces a fluid that mixes with sperm to make semen. Issues with the prostate are common particularly as men get older and can lead to serious conditions such as prostate cancer if undiagnosed.
