The very first day
Somehow during the Covid 19 pandemic I managed to find a little piece of peace and set myself a project.
With panic buying and empty shop shelves I felt quite vulnerable, so I decided I needed to do something about it, rather than sit and worry if the virus would worsen, or the world would seemingly end as we know it.
My clinic closed for safety reasons so it was the perfect opportunity to full-fil a dream. I discovered a corner of the boatyard where I live which could be cultivated, but there was a problem.
As you can see from the photo, it was overgrown and very dense.
Today I began the cutting back and making ready the space I had found. It looked an enormous task, with brambles and weeds to clear, not to mention old fibre glass and rubbish. I had an old pair of secateurs and a spade, so it was going to be a challenge.
Luckily, two friends in the boat yard came to my rescue. Finn appeared with the dumper truck and offered to clear the space for me, and Kerry came along to help. The relief was enormous and they munched through the clearance really quickly. What would have taken me days and days took an hour to clear.
