WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMME – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There is strong evidence that if we put points or calories against our eating regimen it encourages us to cheat, so we substitute good foods for bad foods at equal or slightly more calories. This gamble actually increases our calories by 5 – 10 % which is enough to trigger weight gain. Also it does not educate us to say ‘no’ , to be honest with ourselves, or to manage our food better. Managing your portions and the type of food you eat is far better than counting points, drinking endless shakes or avoiding food groups, as some diets encourage. How many diets have you paid for ? At what financial cost ? The very fact you are reading this means they did not help doesn’t it.
Also, starving yourself as some diets encourage will cause metabolic crisis, which in turn results in eventual failure and weight gain.
What to Expect ?
I will ask you to provide a 7 day food diary including everything you eat and drink during that period. It is very important that I see a true picture of your eating habits, as it enables me to understand your lifestyle and decisions you are making relating to food.
This information is examined at your appointment and I then make changes which are geared towards your work, activities, and intolerances and family.
How long will it take ?
The first appointment will last for approx. 1.5 hours as I gather information from you with regards to your health history and your weight gain issues. I need to know what you have tried and why things have failed. So bring along any notes to help jog your memory.
How much does it cost ?
Each appointment is £25.00 per month. That includes the initial 1.5 hour consultation, then weekly weigh ins by email. But if you feel you need to pop in to see me in that month you can. The emails enable me to monitor your weight and we discuss any problems, issues encountered along the way.
This does mean that if you have a ‘wobble’ mid week for example, you don’t have to wait until your weigh in email, you just let me know on that day and we sort it out. During the month I can send you meal suggestions, prescriptions for supplements if needed and recipes.
Why is support so essential ?
We are always kind to ourselves, and it is easier to fail than to succeed, particularly if there is a history of failed diets. So by giving ongoing support we intercept those negative times, to keep you focused and on track.
